Privacy Policy for HipAngle Pro

Your privacy matters at HipAngle Pro. This policy explains what the app does with your information. It covers the app on iPhone, from Apple’s App Store, and on Android, from Google Play. In short: on both, the app has no account and no backend, so nothing you enter or load leaves your device unless you choose to share it yourself.

1. Information We Collect

We do not collect any personally identifiable information (PII) from users. All data entered into the app (such as the date of birth and the date of examination) remains stored only on the user’s device and is not transmitted to any servers or third parties.

The app does not require user registration or login, and there is no user account on iPhone or Android. We do not collect email addresses, names, or phone numbers.
The app opens the camera, your photos or your files only when you choose to take or pick an image. It uses the local network only for the optional DICOM receiver (Pro), and only while you have it switched on, to receive images from a device on the same network; images received this way stay on your device.

Categories of data stored locally:

  • Dates of birth and examination, and the patient details in images received through the DICOM receiver (Pro), such as the patient’s name
  • Hip ultrasound images and annotations
  • Graf angle calculations

2. Use of Data

All processing happens locally on the user’s device. The app works out the Graf angles from the reference lines the user places on the image, so that trained professionals and students can practise the Graf method and document their own measurements. None of this data is collected, shared or analysed by the app developer.

3. Sharing of Data

We do not share or sell user data.
The app itself sends no data to our servers, third-party services or cloud storage.
Pro (a subscription or the one-time lifetime purchase) is bought in the app: on iPhone through Apple’s App Store, on Android through Google Play. The store, not us, processes the payment, under its own privacy policy (Apple: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/; Google: https://policies.google.com/privacy). We receive no card or other payment details, and the app sends the store none of your images, measurements or patient details.

If you export a measurement as a PDF (Pro), the app creates the file only to hand it to the share sheet or to your mail app, and then deletes its own copy. The file leaves your device only when you share or email it yourself.

4. Data Retention

Everything the app stores stays on the user’s device, and the user can delete it at any time:

  • Uninstalling the app deletes all of it, including images received through the DICOM receiver (Pro).
  • If the phone’s own backup (iCloud or Google) is turned on, the copy in that backup can be deleted in the user’s Apple or Google account settings.

5. Security

Although no data is transmitted, we implement local protections (e.g., using app sandboxing) to keep your data private within your device.
If you have turned on your phone’s own backup (iCloud on iPhone, Google backup on Android), the phone’s operating system, not the app, may include the app’s data in that backup. The backup is kept in your Apple or Google account, and we have no access to it.

6. Compliance with Laws (GDPR / App Store / Google Play)

  • No personal data is collected or transmitted, so there is no processing to disclose under the GDPR and no consent to ask for.
  • The app is designed for trained healthcare professionals and for students in a supervised clinical or academic setting, and is not intended for use by patients or parents.
  • On iPhone and Android alike, the app contains no analytics, no advertising and no tracking of any kind; the analytics component used in earlier versions has been removed.

7. Children’s Privacy

This app is intended for use by medical professionals and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect any personal data from anyone under the age of 13.

8. Medical Disclaimer

This app is an educational tool for practising the Graf method and documenting your own measurements. It is not a medical device, it does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any condition, and it has not been evaluated by the FDA, the EMA or any other regulatory authority.
Always consult a qualified healthcare professional; final clinical decisions are theirs, taken with approved clinical tools.
The developers are not liable for any diagnosis, treatment or decision based on this app.
